When choosing a ring, size plays a crucial role. Even a beautiful jewel can lose comfort if it does not fit properly. Therefore, it is worth taking a moment to measure carefully.
Are you unsure of the ring size when shopping online? Below you will find several proven ways to roughly determine your ring size at home, as well as an explanation of why it is always best to have your size measured in person.
Ways to find out your ring size at home
Home measuring can serve as a good starting point, especially if you are choosing a ring for the first time or as a gift. However, it is important to treat it as a rough guide, not as a hundred percent certainty.
1. Measuring the finger circumference using a paper strip or tape
The most common home method is to measure the finger circumference using a narrow paper strip or tailor’s tape. The strip is gently wrapped around the finger where the ring will be worn. It should fit snugly but not squeeze. The place where the ends meet is marked and then measured with a ruler in millimetres. The resulting value is then compared with a size chart. It is advisable to repeat the measurement several times and ideally do it calmly and at normal temperature. Fingers change slightly during the day, and a difference of a few millimetres can affect the final size.
If you measure the inner diameter of a ring in mm and multiply it by 3.14, you get its circumference, i.e. the EU size.
2. Comparing with a ring you already wear
If you already have a ring that fits well on the same finger, you can base your size on its measurement. Place the ring on a flat surface and measure its inner diameter. This figure can then be compared with a size chart. This method is usually more reliable than measuring the finger itself, but even here the result should be taken as a rough guide. Each ring may fit slightly differently depending on the band width and finger shape.
Ring size guide chart
The size chart serves only as a rough aid. Ring size can vary depending on finger shape, ring width, and the time of day when the measurement is taken.

Why might the size not match the chart?
Even with careful measuring, it can happen that a ring chosen according to the chart does not fit perfectly. Fingers react to temperature, movement, and strain during the day, and their circumference naturally changes. The final size is also influenced by the ring’s width, the shape of the knuckles, or personal wearing preferences.
The chart works with exact values, while the human hand is variable. A difference of a few tenths of a millimetre can in practice mean a whole size difference.
The most accurate way to the right size
If you want to be sure, the best option is to have your ring size measured in person. Any jeweller will measure your size quickly and accurately. I will also gladly measure it for you personally if we meet at one of the markets or events where I will be present with the Ashariya brand. Personal measuring greatly reduces the risk that the ring will not fit and also allows taking into account the specific type of jewellery.
